INTRODUCTION TO ICG-18
The 18th Annual Meeting of the International Conference on Genomics Part II (ICG-18-II) is scheduled to be held from December 2nd to 5th, 2023 in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, China. As a global academic event in the field of life sciences, ICG-18 will continue to carry forward the spirit of the Human Genome Project (HGP) of " Owned by All, Done by All, Shared by All " and advocate global cooperation and sharing among all humankind, in particular, to promote international cooperation among developing countries.

Under the theme of “AI, Omics, and the Future of Man”, ICG-18-II will focus on the sessions of Beyond the Olympic Games, AI in Life Sciences, Outstanding Directors Forum, Twins Research as a Powerful Tool in Life Sciences and Soil: Mother of Food, and a Green World, etc.

Commemorative Activities

ICG-18 will bring a number of exciting activities to commemorate the milestones in the history of life sciences, including:
1)the 20th Anniversary of Completion of the International HGP;
2)the 50th Anniversary of "the First Quote" in the Life Sciences (T. Dubzhansky);
3)the 70th Anniversary of the discovery of the DNA double helix structure;
4)the 80th Anniversary of lectures on the “WHAT IS LIFE” and others.

Social Significance

The rapid development of AI is changing our way of life as well as the fields of biology, medicine and agriculture. We will explore together at ICG-18-II how to utilize science and technology combined with genomics to promote the sustainable development of human society, think about the future direction of human development together, and explore how to balance the relationship between scientific and technological progress and social needs, as well as how to ensure the equity and sustainability of science and technology.

Green Development

To help achieve sustainable development goals, ICG-18 will adopt the Green Meeting Standard (T/CGDF00027-2021), promoting the recycling of conference materials, reducing energy consumption, printing materials, food waste, and disposable bottled water, and using online methods to hold the conference, encouraging the purchase of ecological carbon credits and other methods to effectively reduce the conference's biodiversity and carbon footprint.

18:00-20:30

This international symposium on ethics in AI and regenerative medicine brings together researchers from more than seven nations and a wide range of academic disciplines to discuss the ethical challenges created by the use of big data and AI in regenerative medicine. The symposium will focus on data privacy, informed consent, and fair access to AI-driven therapies. It will also examine intellectual property concerns, funding mechanisms, and potential conflicts of interest as they pertain to the commercial viability of AI and regenerative medicine. Participants will be provided with critical policy indications and recommendations to help them make ethical decisions in the emerging fields of AI and regenerative medicine. The symposium's goal is to give policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders with actionable assistance for the development and implementation of AI-driven regenerative medicines by drawing on the interdisciplinary insights and perspectives shared by attendees. The style of the discussion will be a moderated conversation, beginning with a series of short inputs and followed by a general exchange of thoughts.
