Bioinformatics is a cross field of information science and biology which is committed to the improvement and application of methods and technologies such as algorithms, databases, machine learning and artificial intelligence to solve biological problems. It is born under the background of the increasing integration of computing science and life science, and the rapid development of biological bigdata. It also includes the development of high-performance software tools, database systems and computing platforms to solve major life science problems and conduct bioengineering projects.
In 2021, the 16th International Conference on Genomics (ICG-16) will be held in Qingdao. To explore new ideas for bioinformatics education, cultivate innovative talents in bioinformatics, encourage "Young Scholars" to inherit the spirit of scientific research, pool the strength of bioinformatics research, and enhance Chinese influence and reputation in the field of bioinformatics. The "Bioinformatics tool development competition" will be carried out in the Science Carnival of ICG-16.
The bioinformatics tool development competition includes but is not limited to the design and optimization of bioinformatics algorithms and software, comparative genomics tools, molecular population genetics tools, cytomicstools, big data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning and prediction, etc.
Scope of application: Global scholars in life sciences and related disciplines.
Registration method: log in to the official website of ICG-16 conference, click "COURSES & COMPETITIONS", fill in personal information and entry content, and participate in the selection online.
Entry form: online and offline. After successful registration, you will need to send the work demonstration video to the competition special email: ICG_ 16@163.com. The content of the email should indicate the same pair of name and phone number as on the registration form.

Contestants ensure that the software can run normally and complete the task. Offline or online presentation for 15 minutes and judges' questions for 10 minutes. The judges will adhere to the principle of "fairness, impartiality and openness" to ensure scientific rigor and professionalism.
