What is ICG?

The International Conference on Genomics (ICG) is a global academic event in OMICS. With the permanent theme of “OMICS for ALL”, the ICG has been advocating academic freedom, inspiring innovation and promoting cooperation in the fields of life science.

Since 2006, thanks to the participation and contribution of the world’s prominent professionals and bioindustry leaders, the ICG has been acknowledged as one of the most important gatherings globally in the fields of life sciences. More than 1,500 world-class scientists, including Nobel Laureates from various countries have participated. And over 10,000 on-site and 15 millions online participants have witnessed the rapid development of life sciences and genomics in the past 19 years together with the ICG.

Chairman of the ICG
Huanming YANG

A member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Chinese Academy of Medical Science (CAMS). He is also a professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Peking Union Medical College (PUMC). Furthermore, Yang is vice-president of the Genetics Society of China and the Chinese Society for Urban Science Research, respectively Co-founder and Member of the Board of Directors of BGI Group.

Yang has been working on genomics and relevant fields for many years, and has been engaged in both research and teaching for nearly half a decade. Yang and his BGI team, together with collaborators, have made a significant contribution to the International Human Genome Project (HGP, 1999-2003), the International HapMap Project (HapMap, 2002-2006), International 1000 Genomes Project (G1K, 2008-2012), the International Cancer Genome Project (ICGP, 2008-2010), the international collaboration on Yeast Genome Redesign and Synthesis (Sc2.0, 2011-2017), and other human omics research, as well as sequencing and analyzing genomes of many other animals, plants, and microorganisms, with more than 580 publications in the international prestigious journals, including > 120 in Cell,Science, Nature and its series, H-index=130 (May 12, 2022). Yang has been elected as a fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), and an international/foreign fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, Germany, India, Ukraine, and that of Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, as well as a foreign associate of European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
